There is ample evidence underlining the need for a deeper understanding of what patient engagement means, in order to improve the access of patients in the decision making process and the effectiveness of the services and treatments provided. Congruent with this, the purpose of “EMOTION” is to explore how cancer patients experience their involvement in the decision making process and how they can influence/instruct health policies and improve patient participation.
To this purpose, “EMOTION”, aims to assess the level of patient participation and how patient organizations impact the health decision making process while advocating on their behalf. The results that this study will provide, will then be used to develop a roadmap, empowering patient organizations to participate more formally in decision-making across Europe.
So far the study was successfully completed in France and Italy.
